Apotek 1 Vadsø – never a dull day at work

We had a chat with head pharmacist Jeanette Ulvestad about her working day and the plans for Apotek1 Vadsø. She is busy getting the pharmacy ready for the summer.

The summer season begins

The summer season is just around the corner, so the pharmacy is well under way with its preparations. Jeanette tells us that they are getting in several new products for the shelves, and stocking up on sun cream. “We’re hoping for lots of days with weather as lovely as last year,” she adds. The pharmacist also says they have advertised several vacancies: “We need a new pharmacist, and we’ve also advertised for extra help, as we need summer temps and new Saturday staff for the autumn.”

“Never a dull day at work”

The working day at Apotek1 is usually busy, and with lots of customers and telephone orders the day flies by. Apotek1 not only serves customers in Vadsø, but also sends orders to several other municipalities such as Nesseby, Tana and Båtsfjord. The staff have many tasks, including handling prescriptions, selling products, customer service, tidying stock, telephone orders and packing deliveries. So Jeanette can safely say the working day is varied. “It’s never dull at work, as there are always new things to learn and get to grips with,” says Jeanette, pointing out that good colleagues and lots of pleasant customers are among the best things about the workplace. She adds that in a place as small as Vadsø you get to know your customers well, which she sees as very positive.

Dreams of upgrading the shop

Jeanette’s dream for the pharmacy is eventually to expand the shop, or to renovate the current premises – for the benefit of both staff and customers. They have no concrete plans for this at the moment, but the pharmacist says that in the meantime they are planning, among other things, to get a new computer system, and will start offering vaccinations.
