Privacy on vadsoby.com
In short: vadsoby.com has no logins, uses no cookies and does not store what you type in the forms. Here is what happens to your information, and who you can contact.
Who is responsible
Vadsø Business Association (Vadsø Næringsforening) is the data controller for vadsoby.com. Organisation number 979 305 168, postal address Postboks 242, 9811 Vadsø, Norway. Send questions about privacy to [email protected].
The contact form and “Become a member”
When you press “Send” in the contact form or on Become a member, your own email program opens with the message filled in and addressed to [email protected]. The website itself does not receive or store anything you type — you see the whole message and decide whether to send it.
The email you send is received and handled by Vadsø Business Association to answer your enquiry or process your membership. The basis is that you have contacted us yourself (legitimate interest), and for membership that a membership is to be entered into. The information is not kept longer than necessary for that purpose.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit the site, which pages are read, and whether visitors come from search, social media or other websites. It uses no cookies, does not follow you between websites and does not store information that identifies you. We only see totals.
Hosting and security
The website is delivered by Cloudflare. To show the pages and protect against attacks, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser type for a short period. Cloudflare, Inc. is a US company certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework for the transfer of personal data.
Content from other services
Some parts of the site are loaded from others, who then receive your IP address when the page is shown:
- The maps use map tiles from OpenStreetMap.
- On the tourist map, the map tool and QR code are loaded from unpkg and jsDelivr. If you type an address in the “You are here” field, it is sent to OpenStreetMap’s address search (Nominatim) to find the location.
- The weather forecast is fetched from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute by the website itself — your IP address is not sent there.
Links to Facebook, Instagram, Google, TripAdvisor and businesses’ own websites send nothing until you click them. The other service’s privacy policy then applies.
Stored in your browser
We set no cookies. The only thing the website stores is the language you choose in the audio guide on the town walk, so you do not have to choose again at every stop. It is kept only in the browser on your device, is not sent to us and can be deleted by clearing your browser data.
Businesses and associations on the site
The information on the business and association pages comes from the Central Coordinating Register for Legal Entities and the Register of Non-Profit Organisations at the Brønnøysund Register Centre, from the businesses themselves and from their own pages on Facebook, Instagram, Google and TripAdvisor. The registers are public. If something is wrong, or you want something removed, use “Report an error” on the page or write to [email protected].
Your rights
You have the right to access information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. You can also ask for processing to be restricted, or object to it. Write to [email protected].
If you believe we process information about you in breach of the rules, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority, Datatilsynet.
