Does Hurtigruten or Havila stop in Vadsø?

Last updated: 8 October 2026

Short answer

Yes, but only heading north. Hurtigruten calls at Vadsø early in the morning, around 07:00 in the autumn 2026 timetable, on its way to Kirkenes, and all of Havila’s northbound voyages to Kirkenes call at Vadsø. Heading south, the ships go straight from Kirkenes to Vardø. See Getting here.

In more detail

The ships dock at the harbour terminal in the town centre. Heading north it takes about 3 hours from Vardø to Vadsø and about 2 hours on to Kirkenes. Heading south the ships go from Kirkenes to Vardø in about 3½ hours, without stopping in Vadsø.

From 26 May to 15 September Havila offers the Arctic Rappell Route excursion from Vadsø: a boat trip and a 75-metre abseil down a sea cliff, before you rejoin the ship in Kirkenes. See the Hurtigruten timetable and Havila.
