How do I get to Vadsø?
Last updated: 8 October 2026
Short answer
The quickest way is to fly: Widerøe flies to Vadsø Airport, including direct flights of 15 minutes from Kirkenes, and from Tromsø. From Oslo, the easiest route is to fly to Kirkenes or Tromsø and continue with Widerøe. You can also come by car along the E75, by bus 150 or on Hurtigruten heading north. See Getting here.
In more detail
From Kirkenes there are around two direct flights a day each way, and it is one of Norway’s very shortest flights. From Tromsø there are 2–3 flights a day with a stop, including in Hammerfest, and from Alta there is a daily connection with a stop or change in Berlevåg or Kirkenes. Kirkenes, Alta and Tromsø all have daily direct flights to Oslo with SAS and Norwegian.
If you would rather have someone else arrange the trip, several tour operators include Vadsø in their programme — among them Havila Voyages (all year), AviFauna Naturresor (birding and photo tour, 6–12 March 2027), Opplev Finnmark (food and walking trip, 13–18 August 2027) and Bussring (round trips for groups by arrangement).
